I posted some information quite a while back but I just got an email notification that Mint Hill will be holding some meetings regarding the I-485/ Lawyers Road area where "The Bridges" mall is to be built. Apparently, it is still forthcoming because it is specifically named in one of the meeting information emails "The SAP addresses land use, market conditions, utility needs and transportation needs for the Bridges at Mint Hill project and future development in the immediate area". As I stated before, the town wouldn't be spending money on this land use study unless they knew something positive about the mall.
The first meeting is January 21, 2010 at 6:30 at 7151 Matthews Mint Hill Road and then they will have a three day meeting- "The 3 day Charrette will be conducted in the Assembly Room at the Town Hall on February 2, 3 and 4. Please stayed tune to the website, www.minthill.com/SAP, or call Town Hall for a detailed agenda closer to the Charette date". You can go to http://www.minthill.com/index.aspx?NID=329 for more info and you can also click on "notify me" and they will email you when anything is updated.
As much as commercial/ retail construction has and will take a hit, they are obviously still planning to build the mall, despite the builder's woes (great news for you investors!). I'm not planning on attending, but if anyone does, please update us all.
