The .net
domain
name has been developed with proper search engine optimization and is very
successful with visitor traffic so we're keeping that name. The HOA
purchased the .com name from the realtor who held the name hostage for
the past 8 years.
Stay tuned for
site upgrades coming soon.

About Shannamara
Here's a little information for those of you
considering a move to Shannamara.
Shannamara is swim, tennis,
and golf community situated on 548 acres on the southeast side of
Charlotte. Shannamara backs right up to I-485 which circles
Charlotte, making it a very conveniently located neighborhood.
Although the address is currently considered Matthews, NC., it is
technically Stallings, NC as of Jan 1, 2007. Also, Shannamara sits in two
counties - Mecklenburg and Union. The majority of the neighborhood
is in Union County as can be seen on the map below.
Four of
Charlotte's leading builders created this community of more than 200
families starting back in 1995. Later on in the development, many
other custom builders bought lots and built homes in Shannamara. The
final phase by 'the pond' was opened up in 2001 and the last lots in
that phase have just been completed. Homes in Shannamara range from
the 200's to the 700's with a large portion of the homes averaging
around the 350s to 450's. The golf course that the neighborhood is
built around was designed by John Cassell, and more information
about the course can be found on
The
Divide Golf Club website.
We will be adding pictures of the neighborhood to this page soon,
so be sure to check back. Additionally, make sure to stop by the
"Moving to the Area" online discussion to get some questions
answered by our residents.

Shannamara Map:
Here is a map that was made for Shannamara when the neighborhood was
first created. It shows the layout of the individual lots, the
addresses, the golf course, and other amenities. Arial photography
was laid under the current Parcel layer from Mecklenburg and Union
counties, and used to digitize the golf course layout and lakes onto
the map. Source:
